Tyres
Tyre Pressures should be checked regularly, at least once a month and before long journeys.
Correct tyre pressures keep your fuel consumption down,
reduce your braking distance and increase your grip on the road.
Incorrect tyre pressures can seriously affect a vehicle’s handling.
If you are unsure about checking your tyre pressures,
call into any of our depots, we will be pleased to carry out a free tyre check for you!
Tread Depth – Legal Limits
A new tyre has a tread depth of 8mm. The legal minimum is 1.6mm, although it would be good practice to change tyres at 2mm (manufacturer’s would recommend changing at 3mm). In studies a tyre with 3mm of tread performs 25% better than a tyre with the minimum legal limit of 1.6mm.
The importance of tyres on your vehicle cannot be stressed stongly enough, they are your only point of contact with the road! Tyres in a good condition are essential in keeping you and other road users safe.
